Definition and Purpose
The core drilling rig is specialized equipment designed to drive drilling tools underground to obtain physical geological data. This mechanical equipment is essential for exploration and mineral resource development applications.
Primary applications include survey and exploration of metal and non-metal solid minerals, engineering geological exploration, hydrogeological investigations, oil and gas field surveys, and water well drilling operations.
Working Principle
Power System
Generates operational power through diesel engines or electric motors (AC/DC), providing energy to all drilling rig systems.
Transmission System
Distributes power from the power system to various operational mechanisms (rotation, lifting, mud circulation) through mechanical, hydraulic, or electric transmission methods.
Rotary System
Comprising turntable, power head, vertical shaft, water tap, and active drill rod components, this system drives the drill bit rotation to break formation rock.
Lifting System
Handles drilling tool elevation during operations, casing lifting during completion, and drilling pressure control during active drilling.
Mud Circulation System
Includes mud pump, manifold, pit, solid phase control, and preparation devices. Maintains drilling fluid circulation to remove rock debris, cool/lubricate drill bits and tools.
